“My life has been a battle of ups and downs, but one thing that has not wavered is my urge to give.
Christ has always been a part of my life, but I never fully understood the relationship until college.
I started playing football at the age of eight, and continued all the way through college.
During my time at Virginia Tech, I knew that it could be the last time I played football, which made me incredibly uncertain about my future.
This is when I turned to the Lord.
I began taking more delight in the Lord as college went on, and I knew once my playing career ended, I still wanted to be running.
Not so much physically, but running the race God set out before me. Coming to Power Cross has been unbelievable for me.
I have been able to stay around the sport I love so much, but more importantly, I am able to do God’s work by spreading The Word of Christ
and helping those in need. God has blessed me in so many ways, and leading me to Power Cross is one of the best ones yet.
My father grew up in very similar circumstances that many of these kids have.
Learning about Power Cross online did not do justice for the emotions you feel once you come to the campus.
Interacting with these kids opened my eyes to so much and reminded me of all the stories my dad would tell me about his family growing up.
When you talk to them, you would not even know about the unfavorable situations that they may be in.
They are the light shining through even in the darkest of storms, and that holds a special place in my heart.
Even at the tender age of 24, I still treat all of these kids as if they are mine.”
